Thank you for your interest in the Welding Technology Program at Texas State Technical College-Harlingen. As a student at TSTC Harlingen, you will be awarded endless opportunities to fulfill your educational goals. TSTC is constantly evolving and providing programs to compete with the specialized fields of the working world. TSTC Harlingen offers Certificates of Completion in Combination Welding. In addition, the program offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Welding Technology. Graduates of the program can look forward to career opportunities that offer a sense of responsiblity,personal growth, achievement and financial reward.

Students in the Welding Technology Department undergo hands-on training on the same equipment used by industry. They learn to use various welding and cutting processes including Oxyacetylene and Plasma Cutting, Shielded Metal Arc, Gas Metal Arc, Flux Cored Arc, Gas tungsten Arc, and Submerged Arc Welding Processes. they also learn to perform welding of different joint deesigns with fillet and groove welds in all positions on plate and pipe, plan, design and fabricate welded projects using Blueprint Reading and Layout skills, and perform inspection using destructive and non destructive testing procedures. The student will learn from knowledgeable instructors that have spent many years in industry perfecting their fabrication and welding skills
