Frequently Asked Questions
:: I have a business trip scheduled and I don't qualify for a state-issued corporate credit card...can I request a travel advance?Yes. Travel advances may be given to those employees who were initially denied a credit card, new employees who must travel before credit cards are received, or employees who do not travel enough to apply for a credit card. Only 90% of the estimated travel expense may be given to the employee in advance. An employee cannot receive another travel advance until the last travel advance is cleared.
:: I don't want to apply for a state-issued corporate credit card...can I still request an advance? No. According to System Operating Standard No. FA.6.1, "...if an employee refuses to apply for a credit card, the employee will be required to travel using their own personal funds and request reimbursement upon completion of travel."
::I'm on hold with the Comptroller's office...can I still receive a travel advance? No. A travel advance may not be issued to someone who is in default on their student loan, someone who is indebted to the state, someone who is delinquent in payment of taxes to the state, or someone who is delinquent in payment of child support.
:: What is the difference between "Designated Headquarters," "Duty Point" and "Place of Employment?"DESIGNATED HEADQUARTERS means the area within the boundaries of the incorporated municipality in which a state employee's place of employment is located. DUTY POINT means the destination, other than a place of employment, to which a state employee travels to conduct official state business. PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT means the office or other location at which a state employee most frequently conducts official state business.
