Career Outlook
One out of every 11 telecommunications jobs in the United States is based in Texas. The career opportunities are expanding rapidly in the Lone Star State as Texas employers hire the second largest number of telecommunications technicians in the nation. Eight of the world’s 10 largest telecommunications equipment manufacturers operate plants in Texas. Industry sources estimate that these plants should need an additional 500 qualified technicians in each of the next three years.
Graduates who accept entry-level jobs in the Rio Grande Valley generally earn annual salaries in the range of $27,000 to $65,000 while graduates who go to work beyond the region find starting salaries of up to $40,000 per year.  |
