Telecommunications Technicians
Telecommunications Technicians: Did you know that 1 out of every 11 telecommunications jobs in the United States is in Texas?
Texas employers hire the second largest number of telecommunication technicians in the country. Eight of the world's ten largest telecommunications equipment manufacturers have plants in Texas. As a result of this emerging technology, the industry estimates it will need 500 trained technicians per year over the next three years.
Telecommunications is one of the fastest growing fields of electronic technology. Satellite transmission, fiber optic systems, microwave transmission, data communication, and international communication networks are a few areas covered in this specialization.
You will learn the basic skills necessary for immediate employment upon graduation as a telecommunications technician.
You will receive hands on training; therefore, you should be able to be employed in areas of production operations, field technology, work on developing new equipment, or install and service currently used equipment, etc.
TSTC Harlingen is now an authorized Fujitsu training site for the Fujitsu Certified Network Professional Installer 1 & 2 Training and Certification Program. It provides a multimedia training program containing instructor-led instruction, videos, computer-based training and hands-on practice in installing telecommunications equipment in an industry simulation of a central office environment. As an option to the program and for an additional fee, at the end of the program, trainees may complete a final certification examination, which will consist of a written and hands-on test. If a trainee successfully completes the examination, then the trainee will be certified by Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc. as an Installer 1 & 2 as defined in Telcordia standard GR-1275-CORE.
