A Message from the President

TECH OneCard. In an effort to ensure that Texas State Technical College Harlingen offers you better service, the college has partnered with Higher One, Inc. to bring you a new ID card, the TECH OneCard. This new "all-in-one" card is capable of handling on-campus financial transactions, in addition to usage at off-campus locations.

Starting in January 2006, your current ID card will be obsolete and the TECH OneCard will become your official TSTC ID card. This new card will handle all existing ID card services. In addition, the TECH OneCard will offer the following new benefits:

All student financial disbursements, such as refunds and financial aid awards, will now be handled through Higher One. You have three different options regarding the way you receive a refund:

  • You may choose to have funds transferred to an optional checking account, the OneAccount, and you'll receive refunds on your card within minutes of processing, or,
  • you may elect to have funds transferred to a third-party bank (such as your existing bank account) or
  • you may receive a paper check from Higher One.

If you choose the OneAccount service, the card will function as a MasterCard Debit Card that is accepted by over 24 million merchants worldwide. Cardholders can get cash from ATMs, write checks, send and receive money electronically from their accounts, and monitor the details of their accounts online. Cardholders can also make deposits into this account, as well as have funds (such as work study wages) direct deposited into this account.

The new cards will be mailed directly to the address you have on file with the college.

Please stop by the Admissions and Records office to update your address.

The same photo that is on your current ID will be used on your new TECH OneCard.

Please go by the ID Card Office located in the Student Center to have your photo made and receive a Fall 2005 ID card if you do not currently have one.

You will see and hear more about the outstanding features and services of the TECH OneCard in the coming weeks. Together with Higher One, Texas State Technical College is breaking new ground by transforming our traditional campus ID card into the only card you'll ever need...the TECH OneCard.
