WelcomeThe Teacher Assistant program offers an Associate of Applied Science degree or Certificate of Completion that enables graduates to be placed in paraprofessional careers in public and private schools. Five educational tracks are available, including studies in bilingual education, computer technology, educational aide, early childhood, and special education. Department Purpose Statement The Teacher Assistant program supports the mission of TSTC Harlingen by educating students in the technical educational courses necessary to complete an Associate of Applied Science Degree and/or Certificate of Completion. The TSTC Harlingen Teacher Assistant program fulfills the State Board for Educator Certification standards for the "No Child Left Behind Act of 2001" by preparing students in a wide range of technical educational competencies and by providing a basic foundation in teaching methodologies for effective roles as a teacher assistant in the public or non-public schools.
