CIRCULATING RESPONSIBILITIES

The Surgical Technology student can assist the Registered Nurse with the following:

1. Clean operating room and discard suction prior to case.
2. Gather all supplies, instruments and equipment necessary for case.
3. Arrange O.R. furniture properly.
4. Open and flip sterile supplies for the surgical procedure.
5. Assist with IV therapy.
6. Assist the anesthesiologist.
7. Assist with the skin preparation.
8. Tie gowns of the scrub nurse and surgeon.
9. Provide scrub personnel with sitting stools and foot stools as necessary.
10. Turn and help adjust lights as necessary.
11. Supply the scrub nurse with necessary supplies.
12. Receive and label specimen properly.
13. Log and deliver specimen to pathology properly.
14. Help apply wound dressing.
15. Pull case for following procedure.
