:: Responsibilities of Individuals with Disabilities

Qualified individuals with disabilities have the right to equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from programs offered at TSTC. To ensure this right, qualified individuals have all the following responsibilities:

• To meet and maintain the College’s academic and technical standards (ie. class participation, turning in homework, test taking etc.);
• To inform the College, and faculty members in particular, of disabilities that require accommodations in the educational process;
• To identify and inform the Support Services Office and demonstrate or document how their disabilities limit their participation in and/or success from a particular delivery system, instructional method, or evaluation criteria when they make a request for an accommodation.
• To provide to the Support Services Office current (at least 3yrs old) and complete documentation from an appropriate professional.
• To follow and abide by the published code of Policies & Procedures for students at TSTC Harlingen.
• To advocate for their own individual needs and to seek information, counsel, and assistance as necessary to be effective self-advocates.
• To request needed accommodations and services in a timely manner.
• To notify the Support Services Office on any changes or concerns in needed services or accommodations
• To use services responsibly and treat service providers and faculty with respect and courtesy.
