Dear Potential Donor,

TSTC Harlingen President, Dr. J.Gilbert Leal
TSTC Harlingen President,
Dr. J.Gilbert Leal

I invite you to consider helping us meet a challenge that concerns our community: education. Texas State Technical College Harlingen has accepted a scholarship challenge from the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long family for the past six years.  Long-time philanthropic families from Austin, Texas, the Longs have generously donated a total of $485,000 during the past six years to TSTC. More than 600 students have already benefited from this scholarship money, and have been able to continue their education in all areas of study at TSTC.

The Longs have promised to donate scholarship money to deserving students for a seventh year, on a dollar-for-dollar matching basis, up to $100,000. The Longs hope that by continuing this challenge, there will be $200,000 or more, available for scholarships next year. The scholarships will be awarded to deserving students that are U.S. citizens and demonstrate financial need. Recipients must have and/or maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average.

Because of our exceptional instruction, which offers immersion in real world laboratory settings, students are well equipped to make the transition into their chosen careers. Our graduates are sought by employers regularly because they are known for their outstanding technical skills and distinguished work ethic.

If you haven't been to TSTC in a while, we invite you to visit our students, faculty and staff. Since it's inception in 1969, TSTC has been a unique part of Texas' higher education system. TSTC Harlingen is part of the only state-funded technical college system in the state.

Help us meet the Long Scholarship Challenge to continue this tradition of technical education excellence by filling out the attached pledge card. All donations should be made to TSTC Harlingen or the TSTC Regents' Circle, an incorporated non-profit organization developed solely for the benefit of TSTC. Remember, the Long family, up to $100,000, will match each gift so there has never been a better time to make a difference in the life of a student.

Thank you for your support.
