Emergency Call Boxes
To enhance the safety and security of the TSTC Community, 2 blue light Emergency Call Boxes became operational in November 2009. These phones are mounted in red call boxes which have a blue light on top and are clearly marked "Emergency". Pushing the call button activates the blue strobe light and a direct phone line with the TSTC Police Department that automatically pinpoints the caller's location. In the event that the college police phone connection is down, the call will forward to the Harlingen Communications 911 Center.
Pushing a call button when there is no emergency is the same as making a false report to law enforcement - a Class B Misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a fine of $2,000.
