Welcome

An increasing amount of responsibilities for general machine tool die and plastic injection molding entry-level employees rests with your ability to operate Computer Numerically Controlled equipment. Thanks to cooperative training arrangements between our program and private industry, you’ll work in clean, modern machine-shop facilities.

Our program prepares Certificate of Completion and Associate of Applied Science degree graduates for positions as tool and die makers that manufacture and repair cutting tools, dies and fixtures that are used to process materials – usually metal. You will use technical drawings, calculate dimensions and tolerances, set up metal-working machinery, read blueprints, apply heat treatments, assemble and test tools, and verify the conformance of finished products.

Good communications skills, analytical skills and flexibility are becoming increasingly important in the job marketplace as manufacturing companies become more competitive in a global economy. In the U.S. machining industry, an estimated 15,000 companies employ more than 400,000 toolmakers and precision machinists. Your projects involving horizontal and vertical mills, engine lathes, drill presses, shapers, surface and pedestal grinders, and new CNC equipment put you at a pace to join that work force.
