Housing Purpose Statement

The Housing Department supports the mission of the College and the Administrative Division by providing adequate and affordable housing with a safe, secure, and healthy environment to help students meet their educational objectives. Providing an opportunity for democratic living with intellectual, personal, and social development of each individual to learn about themselves and other people, and life in general.

Policy & Procedure

It is the policy of Texas State Technical College-Harlingen to provide college housing facilities for un-married and married students and their legal spouses and/or dependant children.

Occupancy of student housing is on a first-come, first-served basis without regard to the individual's sex, color, creed, age, religion, handicap or national origin.  Students will not be allowed to move into the dorms during the last month of a semester.  Student must properly vacate housing upon withdrawal or graduation from Texas State Technical College.

Principles

  1. Work Orders are filled out by students when any type of maintenance is necessary.
  2. To maintain an environment conducive to students educational objectives. Develop and enforce rules and regulations governing residence life to provide a safe atmosphere.
  3. Occupancy of student housing is on a first-come, first-served basis without regard to the individuals sex, color, age, religion, handicaps, or natural origin.

Standards

  1. We respond to telephone messages immediately within 24 hours.
  2. We respond to work orders on an emergency basis, but within 24 hours.
  3. The Housing office is open during regular lunch hour for students convenience.

Continuous Improvement

Student Housing Committee Meetings meet every semester to discuss complaints, comments, or any suggestions that students may have. Students from Family Apartments or Single students apartment/dorms are included in this meetings along with the Safety Risk Officer and an officer from College Police.

Through the results of the Housing Committee Meetings we continue to improve the quality of our Housing Department to suit students needs.
