Housing Application Process

Prospective housing residents should review the following information as they prepare to request a dorm or apartment at TSTC.  Questions related to the process should be directed to the Housing Office (956) 364-4235.

Housing Eligibility

To be eligible for TSTC housing, individuals must be enrolled at Texas State Technical College or at the University Center.  Family housing residents must meet additional criteria outlined below.  Individual housing is available to students eighteen years of age or older; individuals under eighteen years of age must receive individual approval from the Housing Supervisor.  Occupancy is assigned on a first come-first served basis without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age or disability.

Housing Application Process

To apply for housing at TSTC, prospective residents must submit the following to the TSTC Housing Office located at 2701 Dogwood, Apt G-2:

• Housing Application
• Criminal Background Check Waiver and Release Form (RBI)
• Deposit in the amount of $150
• Non-refundable Criminal Background Check Fee of $8
• Proof of bacterial meningitis vaccination dated a minimum of 10 days prior to move-in

 

Upon receipt of the complete application, RBI Form, and fees, a criminal background check will be done.  Prospective residents will be notified by mail if they not eligible for housing based on results.  Those deemed “not eligible” will have the deposit refunded and may appeal the decision to the Housing Supervisor.  Prospective residents who are eligible for housing will receive a housing assignment by mail.

 

Students are allowed to move into housing  four  days prior to the beginning of the semester.  All fees must be paid prior to move-in.

 

Students are not allowed to move into housing during the last 30 days of a semester.  Dorms must be vacated upon withdrawal or graduation from TSTC Harlingen.
