The purpose of the English and Spanish Studies Department is to support and enhance the college's technical studies by providing communicative arts and literature courses with appropriate laboratory experiences that strengthen the student's opportunity to succeed in college and, ultimately, in placement, performance, and advancement in the workplace.

The goal of the TSTC Language and Humanities curriculum is to prepare students to adapt to the ever-changing and complex society and work environments they will occupy in the future. Courses in English, Spanish, and others teach survival skills that develop and nurture well-rounded individuals who will be productive as well as creative, culturally aware, and socially responsible.
