Purpose Statement:

The Emergency Medical Technology Department supports the mission of the College and the Instructional Division by providing and maintain an efficient, high quality degree-level technical education program.  We provide the Health Care industries via National Registry Certification a highly-trained Paramedic who performs exceptionally well at entry level and is skillful in the use of safe and sound principles as they relate to medical and trauma patients.  Through affiliations, including a variety of Emergency Medical Services and hospitals, and the Emergency Medical Technology department's advisement, guidance, tutoring, and clinical observation and non-traditional instructional delivery methods, the students gain knowledge and experience necessary for the workforce.  The ultimate purpose of the department is to assist qualified graduates in obtaining initial employment as an entry-level Paramedic and to progress in that employment through satisfactory on-the-job performance and through continued education in the field.

Customer Service Principles:

1.  To provide highly skilled and trained professionals to effectively meet students needs.

2.  The department continues to stay abreast of changes in the field of Emergency Medical Technology.

3.  Provide courteous and a open door policy for student relations.

4.  Respond to student complaints in a timely manner.

Customer Service Goals, Objectives, and Standards:

1.  To continue to seek methods of quality improvement for classroom instruction.

2.  To seek new clinical sites to expand student technical training.

3.  To improve customer service relations:

  • To provide timely and effective student advisement.  

4.  Work closely with the office of Student Success for retention of students.

5.  Work closely with the Recruitment Office to improve student enrollment.

Process for Receiving Information and Filing Complaints:

The Emergency Medical Technology Department is committed to provide an open and fair resolution process for student complaints.  Student complaints will be documented and brought to the attention of the program chairman of the Emergency Medical Technology Department.  If further assistance is needed to resolve the student complaint, the complaint will be forwarded to the Texas State Technical College Customer Service Relations Representative.  Student complaints will be reviewed and resolved in a timely manner.

The Emergency Medical Technology Department strives to produce highly skilled entry level technicians to the Emergency Medical Service industry therefore the department is open to any suggestions to improve the quality of instruction at Texas State Technical College.
