Handouts from Training Events

These are handouts that were used during specific training events.  They are useful reminders of what was covered in training, but they are not “stand-alone“ documents or substitutes for attending training events.  All handouts are in Adobe pdf format.

Making the Grade Training and Installations

TSTC Harlingen provides faculty with the program “Making the Grade“ to assist them in tracking and calculating student grades.  Training, support, and installation assistance are available.

Steps for Setting Up Making the Grade

Since Making the Grade allows faculty members to instantly see the change in the student's average, they are often surprised by how students' averages are sometimes impacted by the first few grades in a category.  Here is a handout with four scenarios.  In each scenario the student's average is affected in a way, which at first glance, appears to be illogical, if not mathematically incorrect, however, the average is being correctly calculated.  The first few grades in a new category can have a most unexpected impact on the student's average.
