Service Excellence Committee
The Service Excellence Committee at Texas State Technical College Harlingen seeks and implements innovative projects to enhance the college’s reputation for quality customer service as indicated in student surveys. The committee takes an active role in attempts to keep morale high in the work environment or work culture because satisfied staff and faculty generally convey goodwill and positive attitude to students, businesses, local residents, and guests or visitors. Studies prove that employees who are comfortable in and enjoy their work environment are more pleasant toward their colleagues, and that unity enhances the cohesion of the entire institution to work together as a team.
Activities, including a social gathering, mark the annual observance of National Customer Service Week. The committee coordinates the recognition of employees who demonstrate exceptional deeds to benefit their peers and students as President Dr. J. Gilbert Leal, Chief Financial Officer Robert Gomez and three vice presidents select seven Service Excellence Superstars each semester. The committee welcomes input from the public, industries, education partners, staff, faculty and students that promotes the college’s ability to offer reliable, prompt services.
