Substitute Teaching Course

This course is designed to examine the role of the substitute in the teaching-learning process.  Information will be provided in many critical facts of education including the organization and staff of the typical elementary and secondary schools, communications skills, the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development of the child and adolescent.  Other topics covered will include classroom management, learning styles, state-mandated curricula, the lesson cycle, and exceptional children.  Two public school observations are required.  This course is required for HCISD substitute teachers and is recommended for other districts.  Handbook included.
