Welcome

The types of businesses that might hire you to start your career include chemical company laboratories, independent laboratories, polymer manufacturing facilities, petroleum refineries, pharmaceutical laboratories, government agencies, and chemical-hazardous material emergency response companies. Many employers cooperate with entry-level employees to arrange for their continuing education.

To qualify for these positions, you will receive experience with a variety of analytical instruments and processes such as spectrophotometers, gas chromatographs, distillation apparatus, total organic analysis, color analysis and infrared spectroscopy. The laboratory work reinforces the education you’re involved with such as laboratory chemical analysis, environmental analysis, environmental sampling, elementary chemical engineering, and quality assurance and quality control.

Industries strongly support our program with scholarships, equipment, grant money for research and faculty training. They also sponsor field trips to typical work environments that allow students some opportunities to conduct experiments outside traditional classrooms and laboratories.

Many departments at TSTC Harlingen concerned with your career offer valuable advice about scholarships, financial aid, special services, housing and materials that could supplement your education. We invite you to tour the campus, meet with faculty and students, and study your future options.
