The Faculty Handbook at the University of California at Davis contains an article entitled "Helping Students Evaluate Their Thinking." The major premise of the article is that for students to improve their higher order thinking skills, they must be able to assess their reasoning ability and the author provides a set of eight guidelines that students can use to evaluate their thinking.
