The Business Office Technology Program (BOT) is located in the Office Occupations Building, also known as "Building C." This building is accessed from Airport Drive via the last parking lot on the left just before entering Valley International Airport.

Curriculum

ACNT 1303 Introduction to Accounting

A study of analyzing, classifying, and recording business transactions in a manual and computerized environment. Emphasis on understanding the complete accounting cycle and preparing financial statements, bank reconciliations, and payroll.

BMGT 1303 Principles of Management

Concepts, terminology, principles, theory, and issues in the field of management that are the substance of the practice of management.

HRPO 1311 Human Relations

Practical application of the principles and concepts of the behavioral sciences to interpersonal relationships in the business and industrial environment.

HRPO 2301 Human Resouces Management

Behavioral and legal approaches to the management of human resources in organizations.

ITSC 1309 Integrated Software Applications

Integration of applications from popular business productivity software suites. Instruction in embedding data, linking and combining documents using word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and/or presentation media software.

ITSW 1307 Introduction to Database

Introduction to database theory and the practical applications of a database.

ITSW 1310 Presentation Graphics Software

Instruction in the utilization of presentation software to produce multimedia presentations. Graphics, text, sound, animation, and/or video may be used in presentation development.

POFI 1349 Spreadsheets

In-depth coverage in the use of a spreadsheet software application.

POFI 2301 Word Processing

Instruction in the various aspects of a word processing software package. Emphasis on the use of text editing features to produce business documents.

POFI 2331 Desktop Publishing

In-depth coverage of desktop publishing terminology, text editing, and use of design principles. Emphasis on layout techniques, graphics, multiple page displays, and business applications.

POFT 1227 Introduction to Keyboarding

Skill development in keyboarding with emphasis on alphabet, number, and symbol keys by touch. Skills can be applied to computers, typewriters, and other equipment with keyboards.

POFT 1309 Administrative Office Procedures I

Study of the current office procedures, duties, and responsibilities applicable to an office environment.

POFT 1329 Keyboarding & Document Formatting

Skill development in the operation of the keyboard by touch applying proper keyboarding techniques. Emphasis on development of acceptable speed and accuracy levels and formatting basic documents.
