Automotive Technology

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence certifies our department and our faculty constantly evaluates the program to seek improvements based upon industry developments. Our faculty also regularly takes advantage of training opportunities to stay abreast of new technology affecting automobile repairs.

In our classrooms and laboratories, you will acquire skills to carefully diagnose motor vehicle problems – including use of computerized systems – to complete repairs that guarantee the safe operation of cars and small trucks. You will gain confidence while becoming familiar with all parts, and related functions, of motor vehicles. That includes the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrical system, differential, the latest computer parts, and all their components. Students often spend 25 percent of the course time receiving lectures and 75 percent of the course time undergoing hands-on training in the shop. Major automobile manufacturing corporations have donated new cars and trucks to our program, enabling students and faculty to work with the latest equipment.

Occasionally, we train students who have had absolutely no automotive technician-related experience prior to enrolling in our program. The industry always has a demand for quality entry-level employees interested in advancement.
