Automotive Technology

The Automotive Technician keeps the nation's rising number of automobiles and trucks in good operating condition. They must have the ability to diagnose the source of vehicle problems quickly and accurately. The automotive industry has changed tremendously with the introduction of the automotive computer system; thus, the general automotive technician must be able to work on all systems of an automobile which includes the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrical, differential, computers and other areas of the automobile. A specialist technician only works on one or two areas of the automobile.
