Welcome to the General Education Division! 

Our faculty members and staff work hard to provide you an outstanding experience in your academic venture here at TSTC.  Whether you plan to graduate from TSTC Harlingen or transfer to another university, I think that you will find that your studies here will provide you with a solid base upon which to build your education.

TSTC Harlingen has been recently approved by the Commissioner of Higher Education to offer an “Academic Core” of transferable classes.  This 48-hour academic core of 16 classes will transfer as a block of courses to any other public college or university in the state of Texas and by law will substitute for that university’s core requirement for any of their bachelor’s degrees.  This is an exciting opportunity for you to complete the academic basics here at home before transferring to another public college or university –thus saving lots of time and money in travel, housing, and tuition costs.  

TSTC has traditionally been less expensive than most other state colleges and universities in the “total package” of costs for “tuition and fees”, and we pride ourselves in small classes with professors teaching our academic classes rather than a teaching assistant or graduate student as is the case in many universities.   I know that you will find that our faculty and staff are here to help you succeed with your educational goals.
