Earn College Academic Credit While in High School TSTC Harlingen offers a variety of ways for students to earn college credit while still in high school. Dual Credit classes - These are classes that students earn both high school and college credit. Classes are offered:

Concurrent Credit classes - These are college classes that high school students may attend with the permission of their high school principals. Students will receive college credit for these classes which do not earn high school credit. Harlingen CISD Early College High School (ECHS) - The Harlingen public schools has an Early College High School located on the college campus. Students attending the ECHS have the opportunity to take a variety of dual credit and concurrent credit classes during their four years at the school. When they complete high school many students also will have completed TSTC Harlingen's Academic Core which will transfer to any other public college or university in Texas as a block of courses. For more information, see the ECHS Website TSTC Harlingen offers a number of ways that students may obtain credit for college courses test in order to earn credit for college classes. Additional information on these testing programs is available through the Advising and Testing Center at 364-4314. Credit by examination for academic courses is only available through one of these following programs. Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate - These are classes offered by high schools. At the end of the class students take the AP or IB examination. If the scores show satisfactory achievement for a subject then credit for the course is awarded by the college. College Level Examination Program (CLEP) - CLEP examinations are offered through the college's Testing Center. To earn CLEP credit, students take a national exam that tests knowledge in a particular area. If a score shows satisfactory achievement for a subject then credit for the course is awarded by the college.
